Governors Message

Dear Brother AHEPANS of the Hoosier District, greetings!

I am honored to be elected your District Governor.

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Panos Niarchos. I joined the Order of AHEPA in 1981, with the JWR Ch. 232, Indianapolis, at the invitation of a notable Ηoosier AHEPAN Mimis Antonopoulos, (God bless his memory), when N. Smyrnis was Supreme President. I was a fairly recent immigrant from the old country, and had heard lots of stories about AHEPA and was eager to meet those AHEPANS!

AHEPA is a grass roots organization, with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece and Cyprus, as well as the rest of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. From its humble beginnings 95 years ago, one member at the time, to today’s success story, AHEPA continuous to exist and serve. Why? Because every great story on the planet happened when someone decided not to give up, but kept going no matter what.

Membership growth in AHEPA is as much about strengthening our bonds among our members as it is about increasing our numbers. I think it is important to remember that although we certainly welcome as many new members as possible, it is just as important to keep our current members. The number of the NPDs that the fraternity sees each year is not sustainable. If this fraternity is to be here for future generations, we must do all we can do to attract the next generation, as well as maintain current membership by attracting those other good men in Indiana.
